Summer Camp – A weekend of learning, growth and adventure

Lessons from Surah Al Asr

A weekend of learning, growth and adventure

This summer, HMC, HAAYA and Faith Inspire are joining forces to take 32 young people away for a weekend unlike any other. Rooted in the timeless lessons of Surah Al Asr, the camp is designed to help young Muslims reconnect with their faith, build real skills, and step away from the noise of everyday life in a peaceful, purpose-built setting away from the city and away from the internet.

When and where
Departure is on Friday evening at 5:30pm, with return on 2nd August at approximately 8pm (subject to traffic). There are two pickup points: HMC (TW3) and ELM (E1).

There are 16 spaces for boys and 16 spaces for girls, with separate accommodation halls for each. The camp is ony for secondary school children from 12-16 years old.

What to expect
Learning sessions will take place at the on-site conference centre, delivered by experienced facilitators. Outdoor activities will be held at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre, giving young people the chance to challenge themselves and build real teamwork. The site has its own mosque, where participants will come together to pray their daily salah in a calm, distraction-free environment.

All sessions are overseen throughout the weekend by experienced youth workers, both male and female, who are dedicated to the wellbeing of every participant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child attend if they are 11 years old and starting secondary school this September?
We appreciate your interest, however the programme is open to young people who are already in secondary school and aged 12 and above. We would love to welcome your child when they are eligible and hope to see them join us in the future.

Are there discounts available for siblings?
The cost of the programme has already been heavily subsidised thanks to the generous support of our donors and sponsors. Unfortunately we are not able to offer additional sibling discounts at this time, but we are grateful to all who have made this price possible.

Is the accommodation segregated?
Yes. There are two separate buildings, located away from one another. One building is exclusively for boys and male youth leaders, and the other for girls and female youth leaders.

Will sessions be segregated?
Boys and girls are seated on separate sides of the room during sessions. Our team of facilitators includes both brothers and sisters, all of whom are trained and experienced, and each will work primarily with their respective group. The programme is designed to instil the values of modesty and good Islamic conduct throughout.

My child has allergies or a medical condition. Is this taken into consideration?
Yes. Parents will be asked to complete a registration form detailing any allergies or medical conditions prior to the camp. You are also welcome to speak directly with our leaders if you would like further clarity. We will do our very best to accommodate every child’s needs, and should we have any concerns about our ability to do so, we will contact you directly.

My child has special educational needs and requires additional support. Can they attend?
We want to be as inclusive as possible, and this is something we are actively working towards for future programmes. On this occasion, however, we are unfortunately unable to support young people with SEN, as doing so would require a dedicated specialist present throughout all sessions, which we are not in a position to fund at this time. We hope to be able to offer this provision in the future, insha’Allah.

What happens if my child misbehaves?
Our leaders will always seek to handle any issues with care and understanding. A clear warning will be given in the first instance. Should any incident be deemed more serious, we will arrange a conversation with both the young person and their parent or guardian to agree the best way forward together.

Do you offer refunds?
Due to the nature of the booking process and the limited timeframe in which we operate, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds once a place has been confirmed. We kindly ask that parents are certain of their child’s availability before booking.
